West Compton Manor Lakes

Situated in a designated area of outstanding natural beauty, West Compton Manor Lakes offer the rare opportunity to fish on a private estate.

History of the Fishing Lakes

Created over 40 years ago by Duncan Stewart a great local character and gentleman farmer, the lakes were inherited by us in a sorry state back in 2007 and since then we have been working hard to restore them to their former glory.  The middle and largest lake contains Carp, Roach, Rudd and some Tench from the original stock introduced over twenty years ago.

Restocking

At the begining of 2010 the middle lake was restocked with Mirror and Common Carp from the ponds at Glastonbury Abbey, believed to be driect descendents of the first culinary prized carp introduced by the monks in the twelth century and they are proving to be an entertaining and challenging catch.

Enjoying the Fishing Lakes

Apart from the fishing syndicate, the lakes are available for the residents of West Compton to enjoy.  We often swim in the lakes in the summer and most dogs enjoy a paddle on a hot day.  There is plenty of wildlife to admire on the banks and deer can often be spotted in the nearby copice at dusk.
